Ebbin Dotson, PhD, MHSA, is a public health scholar, educator, health equity leader, and co-host of How the Health Did We Get Here? Alongside Alley Masocco, he examines how leadership, policy, education, and organizational decisions shape healthcare. Drawing on decades of experience studying and teaching healthcare leadership, Ebbin asks who holds influence, whose knowledge counts, and how institutions can better serve the communities that depend on them.

Educated at the University of Michigan and the University of California, Berkeley, Ebbin has held faculty and leadership roles focused on organizational behavior, health equity, workforce diversity, and pathways into the health professions. His work has also centered on preparing and mentoring emerging healthcare leaders. He is grounded in scholarship, lived experience, and a clear-eyed understanding of institutional change. His seasoned perspective of American healthcare is always looking to connect where we have been with where we still need to go.

Alley Masocco, MPH, MTS, is a healthcare consultant specializing in workforce and clinical process improvement, a public health researcher, and co-host of How the Health Did We Get Here? Alongside Ebbin Dotson, she examines how policy, education, culture, and care intersect to shape the U.S. healthcare system.

Drawing on her studies at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health and Candler School of Theology, Alley’s work spans health equity strategy, maternal health analytics, and values-driven healthcare leadership. Committed to justice-oriented systems change, she brings a distinctive interdisciplinary perspective to healthcare’s complex realities. Alley is always ready to explore how we got here and what it will take to move forward.
